These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the MediCrab desktop application, the website www.medicrab.com, and related accounts and online features (together, the “Service”) provided by TIKMOON LTD (“TIKMOON”, “we”, “us”). By downloading or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
1. About us
TIKMOON LTD is a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 13544903, with its registered office at 61 Bridge Street, Kington, Herefordshire, United Kingdom, HR5 3DJ. Contact: contact@medicrab.com.
2. The Service
MediCrab is desktop software that helps researchers review and prepare academic manuscripts. Your project files are stored on your own computer. Certain features, such as account sign-in, AI-assisted review, literature lookup, and software updates, require an internet connection and communicate with our servers or with third-party providers.
The Service is currently offered as a beta release. Features and availability may change without notice.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organisation to these Terms, and you are responsible for complying with its policies.
4. Accounts
Some features require an account, which is linked to your email address. You are responsible for maintaining access to that email address and for all activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe is in breach of these Terms or is being used to abuse the Service.
5. Credits
We may provide credits that can be used for certain online features. Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are not refundable except where required by law. We may change the features that consume credits, the amount consumed, and any grants of promotional credits, and unused promotional credits may expire on reasonable notice.
6. Your content
You retain all rights in the manuscripts, data, and other files you use with the Service. You grant TIKMOON a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your content solely as necessary to provide the features you request. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions required to use your content with the Service, including any approvals required for research data.
7. AI-assisted features
Output generated with the help of artificial-intelligence models may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. Such output is provided for informational purposes only. You are responsible for reviewing it against your source material and for all decisions made on the basis of it. MediCrab is not a medical device and does not provide medical, clinical, or professional advice.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; (b) circumvent authentication, rate, or usage limits; (c) reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except where permitted by law; (d) use the Service to process content that you have no right to process or that is unlawful; or (e) misrepresent output of the Service as an independent audit, certification, or professional opinion.
9. Licence and intellectual property
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the MediCrab application on devices you control. TIKMOON and its licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in the Service, including the software, website, and the MediCrab name and marks. No rights are granted except as expressly stated in these Terms.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers for hosting, email delivery, AI models, bibliographic data, and other functions. We are not responsible for the availability or conduct of those providers. If you connect a third-party service to MediCrab using your own credentials, your use of that service is governed by its own terms.
11. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time. We may release updates that must be installed to continue using online features. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Subject to the foregoing, TIKMOON shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data, or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with the Service. Our total aggregate liability in connection with the Service shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim and £100.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including sections 6, 9, 12, 13, and 16, will continue to apply.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when they were last revised. Your continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident elsewhere may benefit from mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
